Cathedral's Fire

This past summer I went hiking at Lake O'Hara in Yoho National Park. The image below is one of my personal favorites from the hike. It is taken at the outlet of Lake O'Hara looking toward Cathedral Mountain. I used a 3 stop nd filter so I could take an 8 second exposure which smoothed out the water. I positioned my tripod in such a way so that the top of the fallen tree would end up below Cathedral Mountain and lead your eye to that peak. Using some sort of foreground interest can really spice up a photograph.
I had this image printed on aluminum and was very impressed. At a recent art show many people just had to stop and look. Some even wondered if there was some sort of back lighting because the image seemed to glow.

  1. What can I say Andrew....Fab-u-lous!! I've seen a couple of your other photo's printed on aluminum and they are so cool! I wish I could have seen this one too. I'm not a photographer, so I don't get technical in my comments, but I do know what I like...and I LOVE this one! Great job!

  2. Incredible! I wish I could have been one of those that had the pleasure of seeing this one person! Maybe I will see the next one. The colours in this one are stunning!! Great job Andrew (as per usual!!)
