Conchas Chinas Blues

At this time of year, many Canadians are heading south for a short winter vacation to break up the monotony of a long winter. Mexico is a popular choice. Last year we had the opportunity to spend a little time in Puerto Vallarta on the west coast of Mexico. In the southern part of town lies Conchas Chinas, a beautiful beach surrounded by amazing homes.
While the Caribbean side of Mexico has the amazing long stretches of white sand beaches and crystal clear blue water, I kind of prefer the west coast for photography. Many of the beaches have interesting rock formations that create eddys and tidal pools that allow for a variety of compositions when taking photographs. The dark rock adds interest and contrast to the images.
In this picture, I played around in my post processing and settled on this image which looks like it could have been taken at night with the moon adding some light when in actuality I took it in the early evening. Don't forget to click.

  2. Love this one Andrew! Such a different photo of Mexico...considering most photos are of the same old sunsets! (not that those are not beautiful!!) But this is a whole different take and I love it.
    Thanks for sharing!!
