The Cellar

This shot was taken at the Hacienda Jalisco near the colonial town of San Sebastian  in Jalisco State,Mexico. The Hacienda Jalisco was built over 170 years ago by the Spanish to hold and guard the silver from the many mines in the area before it was shipped to Spain. It is now a guesthouse with many displays of maps, historical documents and artifacts from when it was active.
This was a favorite place of John Huston, famous director of  'Night of the Iguana', and his family. Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor also have stayed there years ago.
While touring the Hacienda, we entered an exterior door that led down some stairs to a wine cellar. This is where I took this photograph. The light, shadows, textures and lines made for an interesting, abstract sort of image.
