Steppin' Out

        On our numerous trips to Mexico over the years, one of the many things that impresses us is that despite the harshness of some areas, the women take a lot of pride in their appearance. Even just doing normal, everyday activities, you can tell they have taken the time to look good. The image below was taken on Isla Mujeres, a small island off the coast of the Yucatan. While waiting outside a small shop, camera at the ready, I noticed this woman exiting a building across the street. I didn't want to attract too much attention and I didn't want to make her feel uncomfortable, so I focused on her feet. When I noticed the high heels ( the hearts on her shoes have ' I Love' engraved on them ), toe rings, ankle bracelet and fancy nail polish, I had to take the shot.
